Commander of the Georgian National Legion
Mamuka (Ushangi) Mamulashvili
Mamuka Mamulashvili is the founder and initiator of the Georgian National Legion. All his life is a story of the struggle against the Russian invaders.
For the first time, he took arms in 14 years during the war in Abkhazia in the early 90's. He could not calmly observe what was happening in his country and fled from home in order to be with his father Zurab Mamulashvili, commander of one of the Georgian units. For the integrity of Georgia, Mamuka fought on par with all. Together with his father and his comrades, he fell into Russian captivity, where he stayed for almost three months.
But contrary to everything they survived with his father. Mamuka grew up, became an economist and specialist in international law, educated in his homeland, and then continued his studies in France. From 2009 to 2012 he was advisor to the Minister of Defense of Georgia. And from 2011 he heads the Georgian National Federation of Mixed Martial Arts. He is currently the President of the Federation.
And at the time when the Revolution broke out in the Kiev Maidan, the Georgian team participated in the World Cup with the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts ). Then the guys took the third place. For rewarding they came out with Ukrainian flags and announced that they supported the Maidan and the will of the Ukrainian people.
"I was sure that the Maidan would win: there was not a case in the history of mankind where such a number of solidarity people did not win. But I understood the scenario in which events will progress, that the victory of the revolution it will not end, and Russia will not stop ... "- remembers Mamuka Mamulashvili.
Therefore, it is not surprising that Mamuka and his associates have created a combat unit in Ukraine, which takes an active part in the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
On September 19, 2015, Mamuka Mamulashvili was awarded the first Ukrainian non-governmental award the Order of the People's Hero of Ukraine.
